Do I have to charge GST on internet advertising services? If I have a website that provides a directory listing service for companies to advertise or list their profile on there, is that service considered as zero-rated or exempt. Basically, all I would be providing is ad space on my website. Note: I am a Canadian resident and this will be a Canadian-based site. Thanks...
What agency can be contacted to instigate competitive broadband Internet and wireless service in rural areas? I.e. Rural area with private phone company. No other services advertised on the web are available in this particular area. No towers (antennae) in the area for a minimum of 30+ miles any direction for service....roaming or local in regard to cell phones. Most rural residents would benefit from cell phone use due to miles between neighbors and difficult road conditions for ranchers and farmers, tourists and recreational enthusiasts.
Verizon internet service - negotiable? I was just informed by Verizon that my one year $14/month deal is almost up and now I would have to start paying $21/month for my internet service. I will switch companies before I do that - but I was wondering if anyone has had any luck (or advice) on negotiating with Verizon to remain at my currrent cost. I'm assuming they have the power to be flexible (like negotiating APRs with credit card companies). I'm assuming they bait people with the "low cost" and then just hope they will continue to pay the higher cost and avoid the hassle of switching companies. By the way, the company I'm thinking of switching to is DSL Extreme which is currently advertising service for $12.99 per month.
How much money can I make through internet advertising? I have a new web service I want to start, and I am trying to decide what is the best revenue model - making it free with ads, or charging fees for service levels. I don't know what I can reasonably expect to make with internet ads, nor who is the best ad provider to work with. And does it matter what kind of ads, like banners or words or pop-ups?
Should I get wireless internet service? The philadelphia area has many city-wide internet services available, all ranging from 15 to about 20 dollars a month for service. They all advertise about 1 meg upload/download and all seem extremely pushy about giving me the service rather than answering my questions. Is it worth it? Or should I stick to my more expensive $50 DSL landline?
Does anyone know of a commercial cat fostering service? We will be travelling for an extensive period (c 12 months) next year and I'm thinking well ahead about how we find a home for our 2 14-year old cats. None of our close relatives or friends could look after them for us. We will try to re-home them but I think we may struggle given their age, and ideally we would arrange for someone to look after them for us in their own home until we returned. We would pay for food, bills and their general upkeep. I can't find this kind of service advertised on the internet. Most foster services are run for cats who have been left in a rescue centre. Does anyone have any ideas?
what should I expect from "free wireless Internet service"? I made reservations at a motel recently which advertised the above feature in its room. I instantly and instinctively assumed there would be a laptop/ keyboard waiting inside for me to use. Nothing of the sort. Although the clerk referred me to a close, off site internet cafe, I felt mislead and cheated. My boyfriend told me the room was merely "router compatible", that the motel grounds might have an "antenna" for a connection to a laptop that the customer brings with him; in short, he told me I misunderstood the language and that the motel really did deliver. I vigorously disagree and gave appropriate feedback to managment. As a comparison, if an airline says "service to city x", we assume they will provide the vehicle (airplane) to transport us there, right? Is this analogy faulty? Beyond this let-down, my stay was very adequate and enjoyable.
Does anyone here use Wild Blue satellite internet service? I'd like to hear from anyone using Wild Blue satellite internet service. We have ancient phone lines so dialup is at a snails pace. No cable service available. The only solution is a satellite provider is seems. What are your actual costs? They advertise $49.95 a month but don't say anything about access fees, taxes, etc. What is your actual bill? Thanks for your help!
What causes internet speeds to be much lower than advertised? at the moment, we have a plan that provides 1.5mbps internet service from RCN, and the realistic download speed is about 92kbps. I was wondering if upgrading to a better plan would increase the speed, or if it was due to another problem, like a bad modem or something. Also, is this just completely false advertising, or do some people actually get 1.5mbps download speeds?
Phone, tv, and internet service in Southern California? I'm looking for a really good deal on unlimited long distance, dsl, and direct tv or similar. I just got off the phone with Verizon and was not happy with their quote. It wasn't the advertised price! Anyone know of other companines? I'm moving to Riverside County, So cal. Thanks!
Free Internet Advertising? Does anyone out there have any suggestions (besides Craigslist) on where I can advertise my services. I sell Avon and rent homes. By the way if you need avon go to my website at www.youravon.com/kfrink and if you need to rent a home in Vegas go to www.nicehomesonly.com
Assume that there are numerous Internet service providers in a large city. Because of fierce competition, thes Assume that there are numerous Internet service providers in a large city. Because of fierce competition, these businesses advertise heavily. One of the features that some of them provide and advertise is streamlined access to pornography sites as well as proprietary pornography sites that can be accessed only by those who subscribe with that particular service provider. This city passes an ordinance that prohibits any advertising about being able to access pornography over the Internet. One of the service providers challenges the constitutionality of this statute. I live in Bangkok and want high-speed Internet, is the advertised speed for incoming or outgoing data? I have heard two different stories -- one is that the speed you sign up for (256, 512, 1G, etc.) describes the speed of information/data traveling to your computer -- the other story is that is the "speed" advertised is only for the outgoing, and that the incoming speeds are all the same for every package. My building is wired for "True" Internet service, so that's what I'll be signing up for. Please help clear this up for me, since I can save a lot of money each month if the speed is actually only for outgoing -- I can just buy the lowest package since I don't care about outgoing speed! Thanks!
How can you save money with internet phone service if you have to pay for home phone service to get internet? I'm just curious because I see all the vonage/skype/magicjack commercials advertising how you can save money on your phone calls, but if you already have to pay for a landline to even get internet service what's the point? Cable isn't available in my area and satelite internet costs too much. Is there another type of internet service available that I don't know about that doesn't use a phone line for high-speed? Or are these services only beneficial for those who live in areas that have cable internet available? And to get cable internet, don't you have to have cable service? I'm just trying to find a way to save money without sacrificing services I use and without paying for services I don't (like cable tv). Also, which of the internet-based phone services offers the best international rates (Honduras)?
Best internet advertising? Whats the best way to advertise over the internet for free? I have this roaminggear.com website with great deals on electronics etc. Even if I have to pay whats a good service that will market over the net for you?
Will high speed internet work for older PCs? I am using Windows 98; 350 megahertz AMD; Bus Clock: 100 megahertz. If I subscribe to high speed internet service, will I get the advertised speed, or do I need to get a new (or at least newer) PC ?
Best internet service? I live in Colorado Springs, and Comcast bought Adelphia and has greatly disappointed me. Adelphia worked great without problems, Comcast is horrible! I have "high speed internet" but it is so slow sometimes. It is cable internet. What are other good cable internet companies in the area that you would recommmend or what is another superior internet source outside of cable? All I see for advertising are Qwest, and Verizon DSL
How do I find this reconnection service? In January of 2009, I'll be moving to a new, much less expensive apartment. They advertise a service that transfers & reconnects cable, phone, & High Speed internet. It's at www.maac.net. I tried an advanced search using also reconnect service. Still can't find it. Anybody know anything about this? I'd like to check the prices for these services.
Is there a market place for internet advertisers? Is there a website/service where advertisers wishing to advertise on the internet, say how much they are willing to pay and then website owners interested in running ads at the proposed price get in touch?
Do I have a legal case against my Internet Service Provider? I have satellite internet, as cable and DSL are not available in my area (and land lines are far too expensive where I live). For the past 8 months, my ISP has been fast in the morning, slow in the afternoon. I figured it was because of network congestion. Further research shows otherwise. Like all other satellite companies, my ISP has what is called a FAP policy - if you download too much data in a 24-hour period, you are throttled down to dial-up speeds for a 24-hour recovery time. The problem is, at 4:00 PM SHARP (network time), I am throttled down to dial-up speed. This speed is consistant until 12:00 AM, when I am allowed normal speeds, again. Normal speeds being 965kbps down/196 up. The plan I subscribed to is up to 1000k down/200 up. The throttled down speeds are about 85kbps down/26 up. My home-based company has lost $10,000+ in revenue because of my ISP's actions. Do I have a case for the following: Breech of contract: False Advertising: Lost wages: I should also mention that I am being throttled down, every day, at the same time... even though I have NOT reached my FAP threshold. My threshold is 375MB in a 24-hour period. I average less than 150MB in that period of time. Basically, I am being punished with their FAP policy, though I am not exceeding their threshold. MIDNIGHT... - Read the additional info part. It states that I am not going over the threshold of 375MB. According to the application provided by my ISP that tracks my network's data usage, I am using an average of 150MB in that 24-hour period. Clearly less than the 375MB I am allowed. But still, they are throttling me down. So, to answer your question, I am NOT going over the allotted bandwidth. Absolutely. I run security checks on my network on a regular basis (both from within the network and from the outside). I am using encryption on my wireless network, as well. We are locked down pretty good. All computers are scanned for mal-ware on a daily basis, as well. Logs are checked to make sure no rogue programs are access the internet. AND the ISP's application shows data transfers for the modem (which includes all connected PCs). In short, we're throttled down though we are below the threshold. MIDNIGHT - It can't be system overload. This happens EXACTLY at 4:00 every day and ends at EXACTLY 12:00 midnight. I have 2 days worth of video that illustrates this slow down at those exact times. I doubt network congestion would happen at EXACTLY 4:00 every day and end at EXACTLY midnight. It is obvious that the ISP is performing a throttle down of services. MIDNIGHT - Right... I have a couple hundred thousand dollars laying around where I can just choose to move somewhere. That's like saying I can choose to turn my eyes blue just by willing it so. ...IS HOT... - It does say "UP TO" in the contract language. However, where they may get themselves in trouble is where they advertise "broadband". Nowhere do they say that they will only provide broadband from 12 AM to 3:59 PM. Also, they say that they will throttle you down if you exceed their FAP threshold. They are throttling down even when the user does NOT exceed the threshold. The ads and contract state that they are a broadband company. The definition of false advertising is if a company provides service that is not consistent with 1) the language in the ads or 2) the spirit of the ads. They are in violation of both. As for the language in the contract... they do say "UP TO". Does that "UP TO" negate the advertisment's promises? ... IS HOT... - No way I could have lost $10,000 because of internet service huh? Guess again. I do audio mastering for several bands, internationally. $1000 per complete CD... 10 clients lost due to missed deadlines BECAUSE OF MY INTERNET SERVICE. If math serves me correctly... that's $10,000. When we moved here, we were told by our realtor that cable serviced this area. We found out differently when we attempted to open an account to find that cable does NOT come out here. ...IS HOT... I understand what you're saying, but I don't think you understand what I am saying. The problem started 8 months ago. Within that time, the speed issues seemed to have been corrected for a period of time. By the time the problem was corrected, I lost a few clients. All of a sudden, the speed issues returned. This is when I discovered that the ISP was throttling me down at certain times during the day... WHETHER I EXCEEDED THEIR FAP THRESHOLD OR NOT. To me, this is breach of contract. This also appears to be against what they are advertising (broadband internet). Between the two periods of time that I had a problem, the accumlated lost wages are $10,000. Right now, that $10,000 is secondary to the real complaint that my ISP is violating the contract by throttling my speeds to dial-up speeds for no reason at all. Breach of contract is my main gripe, here. The $10,000 is secondary. I want the service I am paying for.

Internet advertising explained? I am frustrated in attempting to learn about Internet advertising. I have an idea for a local website, that I expect would have relatively high traffic locally, and not rely on Search Engines to bring visitors. I do not have a product to sell, but an interesting service to provide on the website. I can't figure out how to profit from the potential traffic generated. The affiliated programs seem to only have very modest revenue returns. I may have potential to 'sell' local advertising on this site, but have no idea what I could expect that to be worth? I know esoterically, it's worth what they'll pay, but I'd love some real life examples. I'd be appreciative of realistic knowledgeable responses from those with experience in this type of website. I'm not looking to become an instant millionaire, but on the otherhand this site will require a lot of time to maintain, and I need it to be worthwhile of my time. Thanks for any serious answers.
How do I service mark a name for a product? I am creating/teaching a workshop and want to service mark the name of it so it can be used exclusively by me when advertising in print or on the internet- or possibly franchise it later. I probably need a lawyer to do this but any information would be helpful to get started.

anyone noticed how DSL-internet companies advertise low costs but when u call, the price is 4 times higher? i was looking 4 stand-alone DSL, & saw low prices advrtised ($14.99). yet when i called, there's always a reason why i don't qualify for the low rate. at&t said i had 2 have an at&t home phone b4 i could get the service. what? isn't stand-alone DSL an internet connection without a home phone line? i told her i had at&t cellphones w/5 lines but that didn't count. i called, at least 4 companies & was quoted from $42-$60 per mnth. plus contracts. one company had a 1yr contract with a 1yr renewal. ... isn't this the same as a 2yr contract? how dumb do they think customers r ? i'm also astonished by the various fees they charge. & their refusal to take responsibility 4 svc interruptions or intrnet speeds saying "our speeds r "up to" & not "exactly" the speed we quote"."they sometimes average 64 Kbps". What's wrong w/this picture? isn't this false advertising or worse? can anything be done about this? they take advantage of people who sign up w/o reading the fine print. how wrong is this?
Where can I find Investors for my new online internet start up Company? I have just recently filed for a DBA, and I have just started writing 2 separate business plans, generally the same idea but different themes. I think this could make a lot of money , and the return would greatly outweight the costs. These websites would generate profit through online advertising and a select few services we would provide to the user, but in order to build these 2 individual websites, I would have to put forth about 100,000 dollars worth (rough estimate), which would include all start up costs and etcs. After I have finished with the business plans, I will be in pursuit of investors? Where should I look for them? How should I contact them? Should I contact any specific ones that are interested in the internet? Thank You. I forgot to Mention... I do have somewhat of an online setup of one of these ideas already running... this was going to be the original idea, and solely owned by me and my partner. I thought I was going to be able to handle this on my own, but apparently not. I need more money than I already have.
Guerilla advertising in a small town? I work for a local company that sells internet, tv, and phone service in a small town and need some good ideas to bring in sales without the internet. I mostly want to target college kids since this is a college town and have already decided that I'm going to advertise at the college and dorms but feel like I could be doing more. Any ideas? And does anybody know of any good sites for free flyer templates that would appeal to college kids?
Are there any forums that allowing advertising? I know that almost all "Gathering Places" on the internet frown upon advertising through their platform, but are there any forums, chatrooms or groups that allow you to promote your website or services?

Has anyone had slipcovers dyed from firms on the Internet? I need to get some 100% cotton Pottery Barn slipcovers dyed and do not want to attempt it myself. Mine have faded and the sofa size has been discontinued. I have found 3 companies on the Internet--1 in Oregon, 1 in Canada, and 1 in San Francisco--that advertise that they provide the service. It looks like it will be around $400. Has anybody used such a company and what was your experience?
How to wireless questions, partitioning hard drive.? I have a Compaq Presario R3000 that has wireless capabilities.I see people in coffee shops accessing wireless internet service. One coffee shop I frequent advertises "free wireless" service and I have been unable to sign on. I need help and don't know where to go to diagnose the problem. Do you know of some websites that assist with this? Also, I have heard that it is better to partition your hard before accessing wi-fi, but again, I am ignorant about these subjects. If you know of websites that help with these subjects, I would sincerely appreciate the info.
How do I get into internet radio broadcasting? I want to broadcast daily for about 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening over the internet live. I also want to be able to accept call-ins. I don’t mind advertising and I am not interested in making money. Who provides the best service for doing this? What equipment will I need (other than a computer, high-speed internet connection)? How much will it cost monthly? Also, is there anyone who is doing this with a station I can check out?
