The article talked about a research tool, which would help identify the perfect niche for PPC targeted advertising. Can anybody tell me if this method is reliable?
OMG pls help me! My internet has been high jacked every time I search for...? Every time I search for something on the web well for example I type in ‘the messengers” (you know the new movie that came out) after I hit the search button a list of websites will come up which is normal but then when I click on any of those sites like www.imdb.com/title/tt0425430 which is for the messengers well click on that site and it takes me to like these advertising sites instead of www.imdb.com/title/tt0425430 what could I do besides going into tools internet options because that don’t work either!!! Does anyone know where this weird spamming comes from? My junk mail box has been getting filled up with this strange insensible spam. It doesn't advertise anything--and most resembles an incoherent blogger, but the email address it comes from is different everytime. Here is a sample of the spam text: "Advanced get rss updates utilities. Chapter on the web. Produces high quality for technical divers. Dvd video deepsea produces high quality. Shields your, games internet tools?" Does this make any sense to anyone? Does anyone know where this sort of thing comes from?
Cost Per Click and Sales Conversion; Normal Range? Hi: I'm trying to form some reasonable expectations for internet advertising costs and results. I must be misunderstanding something because I'm having trouble understanding how people make money selling with normal tools like Adsense. Its my impression that if you want a good placement using Adsense you need to pay $0.65 to $2.00 per click. Does this sound right? While the click-to-sales conversion will vary depening on what you are selling and what traffice you are getting, 0.5% to 2% seems to be the normal range. Is this true? Assuming you do get a 1% conversion, and your cost per click is $1.00, that suggests to sell one unit of whatever you are selling you need to spend $100. Not many products have enough margin to allow you spend $100/unit on advertising, so I'm guessing some of my figures are way off. Can anyone lease help me figure out where I'm going wrong? Thanks

Do You Understand The Magnitude Of This Crisis? Magnitude of the Crisis ATTACK ON A GENERATION Today's teens are being attacked by popular culture like no other generation. Hollywood, the music industry, advertisers, and even the mainstream media are using their arsenal of tools to win the battle for our teens' hearts- and so far they are winning! In order to defeat our enemy, we must know how it thinks and understand the weapons it uses. It is critical that we realize how far-reaching the crisis is- and then we must work together to stop it. TELEVISION This generation views 16 to 17 hours of television each week and sees on average 14,000 sexual scenes and references each year. That's more than 38 references every day. INTERNET This generation spends three hours a day online and is the first to grow up with point-and-click pornography. Almost 90 percent of teens have viewed pornography online at one of the 300,000 adult websites, most while doing homework. MUSIC More than 25 percent of teen-targeted radio segments contain sexual content; 42 percent of the top selling CDs contain sexual content ADVERTISING With more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets, this generation has been targeted by corporate America, who does everything it can to grow brands and profits without any regard to the moral decay of a generation.
If the Yahoo Answers and the Internet? in general, are a "tool of the devil" as one fundie regular suggested, then why are Christians here playing with a tool of the devil? You wouldn't play with a Ouija board, would you? Why are they putting advertising revenues in the pocket of the devil? JW.
computer repair shop? I am beginning to start my own little PC repair business out of my garage. I have 3 tables, internet connections, diagnostic tools, tools, all the stuff needed to complete tasks. I was just wondering if anyone has any great advice if they have done this themselves. I was going to advertise in the paper, send out flyers, and the best is word of mouth, but i was looking for advice like policies. The main policy being, what is the best way to back up customer's data, or if i should back it up at all if they do not say. I know cloning drives works great, but lot's of people use old systems and such. Just some general advice would be greatly appreciated. I was just going to start out by doing house calls and setting a flat rate of $50 to fix any problems. If the problem cannot be fixed at the house i would bring it back to the garage to work on it and if the problem was out of my reach, no cost at all.

Are there any website design schools in the U.K.? I am a graduate but I have lost interest in careers related to my BSc degree in quantity survey. I want to get into website programming. The first step is to find a school. I tried searching the internet for schools, but the schools are found are all offering distance learning, which to me is undesirable. I want a school; I mean sit in the classroom and ask rational questions to get goo value for my money. I have been searching the internet for almost a week but nothing seems to come up. Google is crap because it has lost it's real principle of being the best search engine on the internet. This is due to the fact that search results from google are very limited, because it is more of an advertising engine than a search engine. Google will only give results related to its clients and those who have paid them to be advertise. This has limited the amount of relevant search results . Please send me any recommendations for website programming schools in the United Kingdom. I am more interested in schools that are into e-commerce website design and tools. Thank you

Licensee acknowledges that the injury that would be suffered by Licensor as a result of a breach of the provisions of this Agreement by Licensee would be irreparable and that an award of monetary damages to Licensor for such a breach would be an inadequate remedy. Consequently, Licensor will have the right, in addition to any other rights it may have, to obtain injunctive relief to restrain any breach or threatened breach or otherwise to specifically enforce any provision of this Agreement, and Licensor will not be obligated to post bond or other security in seeking such relief Should you have any questions concerning this Agreement, or if you wish to contact Licensor for any reason, please e-mail us at dcads.biz <sendto:info@dcads.biz>. Can anyone provide me with some point by point rebuttal on this article "Cult of Amateurs"? The Cult of the Amateur Sign In to E-Mail or Save This Print Share Digg Facebook Newsvine Permalink By MICHIKO KAKUTANI Published: June 29, 2007 Digital utopians have heralded the dawn of an era in which Web 2.0 — distinguished by a new generation of participatory sites like MySpace.com and YouTube.com, which emphasize user-generated content, social networking and interactive sharing — ushers in the democratization of the world: more information, more perspectives, more opinions, more everything, and most of it without filters or fees. Yet as the Silicon Valley entrepreneur Andrew Keen points out in his provocative new book, “The Cult of the Amateur,” Web 2.0 has a dark side as well. Skip to next paragraph Catherine Betts Andrew Keen THE CULT OF THE AMATEUR How Today’s Internet Is Killing Our Culture By Andrew Keen 228 pages. Doubleday. $22.95. Tony Cenicola/The New York Times Mr. Keen argues that “what the Web 2.0 revolution is really delivering is superficial observations of the world around us rather than deep analysis, shrill opinion rather than considered judgment.” In his view Web 2.0 is changing the cultural landscape and not for the better. By undermining mainstream media and intellectual property rights, he says, it is creating a world in which we will “live to see the bulk of our music coming from amateur garage bands, our movies and television from glorified YouTubes, and our news made up of hyperactive celebrity gossip, served up as mere dressing for advertising.” This is what happens, he suggests, “when ignorance meets egoism meets bad taste meets mob rule.” This book, which grew out of a controversial essay published last year by The Weekly Standard, is a shrewdly argued jeremiad against the digerati effort to dethrone cultural and political gatekeepers and replace experts with the “wisdom of the crowd.” Although Mr. Keen wanders off his subject in the later chapters of the book — to deliver some generic, moralistic rants against Internet evils like online gambling and online pornography — he writes with acuity and passion about the consequences of a world in which the lines between fact and opinion, informed expertise and amateurish speculation are willfully blurred. For one thing, Mr. Keen says, “history has proven that the crowd is not often very wise,” embracing unwise ideas like “slavery, infanticide, George W. Bush’s war in Iraq, Britney Spears.” The crowd created the tech bubble of the 1990s, just as it created the disastrous Tulipmania that swept the Netherlands in the 17th century. Mr. Keen also points out that Google search results — which answer “search queries not with what is most true or most reliable, but merely what is most popular” — can be manipulated by “Google bombing” (which “involves simply linking a large number of sites to a certain page” to “raise the ranking of any given site in Google’s search results”). And he cites a recent Wall Street Journal article reporting that hot lists on social networking Web sites are often shaped by a small number of users: that at Digg.com, which has 900,000 registered users, 30 people were responsible at one point for submitting one-third of the postings on the home page; and at Netscape.com, a single user was behind 217 stories over a two-week period, or 13 percent of all stories that reached the most popular list in that period. Because Web 2.0 celebrates the “noble amateur” over the expert, and because many search engines and Web sites tout popularity rather than reliability, Mr. Keen notes, it’s easy for misinformation and rumors to proliferate in cyberspace. For instance, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia (which relies upon volunteer editors and contributors) gets way more traffic than the Web site run by Encyclopedia Britannica (which relies upon experts and scholars), even though the interactive format employed by Wikipedia opens it to postings that are inaccurate, unverified, even downright fraudulent. This year it was revealed that a contributor using the name Essjay, who had edited thousands of Wikipedia articles and was once one of the few people given the authority to arbitrate disputes between writers, was a 24-year-old named Ryan Jordan, not the tenured professor he claimed to be. Since contributors to Wikipedia and YouTube are frequently anonymous, it’s hard for users to be certain of their identity — or their agendas. Postings about political candidates, for instance, can be made by opponents disguising their motives; and propaganda can be passed off as news or information. For that matter, as Mr. Keen points out, the idea of objectivity is becoming increasingly passé in the relativistic realm of the Web, where bloggers cherry-pick information and promote speculation and spin as fact. Whereas historians and journalists traditionally strived to deliver the best available truth possible, many bloggers revel in their own subjectivity, and many Web 2.0 users simply use the Net, in Mr. Keen’s words, to confirm their “own partisan views and link to others with the same ideologies.” What’s more, as mutually agreed upon facts become more elusive, informed debate about important social and political issues of the day becomes more difficult as well. Although Mr. Keen’s objections to the publishing and distribution tools the Web provides to aspiring artists and writers sound churlish and elitist — he calls publish-on-demand services “just cheaper, more accessible versions of vanity presses where the untalented go to purchase the veneer of publication” — he is eloquent on the fallout that free, user-generated materials is having on traditional media. Mr. Keen argues that the democratized Web’s penchant for mash-ups, remixes and cut-and-paste jobs threaten not just copyright laws but also the very ideas of authorship and intellectual property. He observes that as advertising dollars migrate from newspapers, magazines and television news to the Web, organizations with the expertise and resources to finance investigative and foreign reporting face more and more business challenges. And he suggests that as CD sales fall (in the face of digital piracy and single-song downloads) and the music business becomes increasingly embattled, new artists will discover that Internet fame does not translate into the sort of sales or worldwide recognition enjoyed by earlier generations of musicians. “What you may not realize is that what is free is actually costing us a fortune,” Mr. Keen writes. “The new winners — Google, YouTube, MySpace, Craigslist, and the hundreds of start-ups hungry for a piece of the Web 2.0 pie — are unlikely to fill the shoes of the industries they are helping to undermine, in terms of products produced, jobs created, revenue generated or benefits conferred. By stealing away our eyeballs, the blogs and wikis are decimating the publishing, music and news-gathering industries that created the original content those Web sites ‘aggregate.’ Our culture is essentially cannibalizing its young, destroying the very sources of the content they crave.”

My computer was recently infected with spyware.? I've been able to resolve most of the problems, but a couple things are still giving me trouble. For example, when I click links on a Google search page, I get redirected to some bullshit advertising webpages. Also, I am unable to connect to liveupdate for Norton antivirus, though I'm unsure if this is related to the spyware infection. Below is an Hijack-This log of my computer. Any suggestions? Wireless Card? My computer is hooked up wirelessly to my DSL gateway using a D-Link USB dongle. However, the dongle always maintains a perfect signal strength but occasionally cannot access the Internet until I run Internet Explorer's Network Diagnostic tool. These problems occurred at random and are very temporary; no other wireless device in the house has problems maintaining its connection. I have decided to get rid of the dongle and buy a wireless card for my desktop computer so I can have a more stable connection. However, I'm not sure what I should get. My DSL gateway is currently set to 802.11b/g with a maximum wireless transmission speed of 54mbps. I'm not looking for something too expensive, just something that can match that speed and still keep a good connection all of the time. I'm currently thinking of getting a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adaptor, advertised at $40...is this a good buy? What do you recommend? Thanks for the input.
who thinks this is to much? ATTACK ON A GENERATION Today's teens are being attacked by popular culture like no other generation. MUSIC More than 25 percent of teen-targeted radio segments contain sexual content; 42 percent of the top selling CDs contain sexual content ADVERTISING With more than $128 billion dollars in their pockets, this generation has been targeted by corporate America, who does everything it can to grow brands and profits without any regard to the moral decay of a generation. am i underpaid???? I work at a Polaris dealership that has only myself and the manager (who doesn't help) to help the customers. We also sell chainsaws, outboards, generators, power tools, ATV and snowmobile riding gear as well as many other misc items. My responsibilities include selling the ATVs and Snowmobiles, answering the phones, taking phone orders, helping customers in the store, internet ordering for customers, anything that our service department needs and store inventory. I am also responsible for advertising, lining out misc deliveries for our driver and chasing down customers who owe moey on their accounts but are not paying or people who have written bad checks.( I am stil trying to figure out why the accountant doesn't do that.) Sometimes I have to do deliveries myself when our fearless leader of a manager doublebooks stuff. I am also respnsible for stocking our parent companies nuts and bolts at their shop on the other side of town. I do all this and I am paid $15.00/hr. Am I underpaid???

I know in todays world, flyers don't work any more and the internet must be utilized. What is a good way to start to advertise on the web and give basic prices and info on my company.
